Summer is here and that means many of us will be desperate to get in shape and look our best.
Doing it, though, is easier said than done – so here are three ways to lose weight and tone up.
Put together a meal plan
There’s no big secret to dieting – simply burn off more calories than you consume. Easy! But it’s far from easy when temptation is everywhere, so construct a meal plan every week before you go food shopping and this should ensure you only buy what you need. Replace unhealthy snacks such as crisps and chocolate with fresh fruit, grill meat instead of frying it and cut down on alcohol consumption. Drink plenty of water and eat five portions of fruit and veg every day. Factor a ‘cheat day’ into the meal plan, so you can treat yourself to a little bit of what you fancy, while consider using protein powders from companies like Atlantic supplements and driven sportsas they can act as meal replacements.
Go to the gym – and stay there!
Getting into a regular gym regime will ultimately make or break your attempts to lose weight and tone up, but this involves lot of willpower. Just dragging yourself to the gym two or three times a week is a good start. Once at the gym, change what you do as much as possible to keep boredom at bay. Interval training is perfect for weight loss and this involves changing the intensity from low to high and back again frequently. For example, get on the treadmill and speed walk for one minute, jog for a minute and then sprint for 60 seconds. Repeat this process for 10-15 minutes and you’ll soon feel the benefit.
Construct a perfect play list to exercise to
Whether you’re hitting the gym hard or pounding the pavements, what you listen to is important. It can perk you up if you’re not quite in the mood and motivate you to push yourself that little bit further. Personal preferences differ, so it’s difficult to say what you should or shouldn’t be listening to, but check out this guide to 52 best workout songs for some inspiration.
