Not surprisingly more and more obese people are turning to weight loss surgery as a method of losing weight. In fact a friend of mine is considering getting a loan out for a gastric band because he’s heard so many great things about it.
But like any type of surgery weight loss surgery has its drawbacks and isn’t for everyone.
So, if you’re early stages of considering having weight loss surgery done and want to know more, where can you look?
Easy…YouTube. Sometimes the wealth of video content online on even the most extreme sport or topic is staggering and YouTube isn’t any different.
Type in “weight loss surgery” you’ll be swamped with videos on various types of video on surgery for weight loss, from testimonials, expert opinions, media pieces and video taken by doctors performing surgery in theater.
Having said that, like any content online its important that you get the right information and don’t accept everything you’re being told in some videos.
When watching these videos carefully consider whether this person seems like an expert giving an honest opinion, or do they have a hidden agenda (are they trying to profit from you?) I would recommend you talk to your doctor for a more independent and expert opinion.
But if you’re looking for more information about whether surgery for is right for you YouTube can help. It mightn’t answers all your questions but it probably will make you more aware what you’re getting into and if its right for you.
And who knows maybe in a few months we may see your weight loss journey live on YouTube inspiring others that weight loss doesn’t need to be a lifelong battle.
Finally, I’d like to thank Mark for letting me guest blog here for the week and wish you all a Happy Christmas and a slimmer New Year!
