Thinking of trying energy pills.

Posted Mar 17 2009 3:40pm

I wouldn’t have given energy pills a chance if it weren’t for my brother. His trainer recommended a specific brand to him – and it had a huge impact on his life. In the weeks up to his first taking the energy pills, his schedule consisted of sleeping, eating, and moping. When he first took the energy boosters, he got back on track rather quickly – he seemed quite happy with his new productivity. I was aware of the possibility that just by taking a pill for energy, his brain could’ve just imagined the newfound energy and motivation – but I was still willing to give it a shot myself, placebo effect or not. I spent some time researching the effects of energy pills before I decided to go for it. I know many people complain of experiencing nervous jitters, or some level of insomnia – but I knew that if any of these arose, I could easily stop taking the pill. If these energy pills proved to be anywhere near as effective for me as they were for my brother – I would be set! Naturally, I started taking pills from my brother’s bottle. Now I have the best fat burners!

When I started taking the pills, my goal was to stay awake and alert throughout the work day. My day is very long, and taxing – and it gets boring fast. After I’ve been sitting still in a cubicle for such a long time, I become slow and my work quality goes down steadily. Since I have a set workload to do per day, my ability to focus really makes a difference in my day – if I can stay focused, my work-week actually shortens. During the first week of using the energy pill, I finished all my work for the week by Thursday. I spent Friday hanging out on a beach!

Throughout week two, the energy kept flowing – I used my time more efficiently than any of my coworkers! This was a blessing and a curse – when my boss noticed I was whizzing through everything, he upped my workload! I worked diligently, even with the increased load – and it wasn’t long afterwards that I got a much-needed promotion! Soon it was obvious that my new image was that of a workaholic – and eventually I started letting my coworkers in on the energy pill secret. Perhaps to be expected, the people I told just laughed when I named the energy pill as the explanation behind the work.

So far I haven’t encountered any noticeable negative side-effects. I haven’t even had any insomnia, which is something I often have even when I’m not taking any medication. My brother hasn’t mentioned having problems sleeping either – it could be that we play sports and go to the gym regularly with friends. Our weekly workout routine could be the reason we eventually tire out at the end of the day and are able to sleep soundly. I’m starting to think I should get my girlfriend in on this energy-craze, but I kinda like waking up hours before she does. This pill is too fantastic for me to not share with the people I like – and I feel I at least did my share of research on the product before pushing it onto my friends. I just hope that this time next year, I’ll still be singing praise of this energy pill – but I’m still trying to keep my mind open. If I start experiencing anything less than awesome (i.e. jitters, nausea, insomnia), I’ll be sure to post a follow-up to this article.
