The Negative Side Effects of Dieting for Weight Loss

There is no warning label on your diet. So you don’t really know what’s in store for you. What they don’t tell you is there could be some hefty negative side effects. This is not to say that, for the most part, diets themselves are harmful. It is the whole dieting experience that carries with it risks as well as rewards.

Below is a list of side effects of unsuccessful dieting, and the side effects and benefits of successful dieting. Read them closely. Forewarned is forearmed.

Side effects of unsuccessful dieting:

  • Feeling like a failure
  • Lowered self-esteem
  • Embarrassment
  • Being too hungry
  • Increased frustration
  • No weight loss
  • Weight loss and regain

Side effects of successful dieting:

  • Feeling the loss of old ways

Benefits of successful weight loss:

  • Feeling proud of yourself
  • Feeling elated
  • Feeling competent
  • Weight loss
  • Feel better
  • Look better
  • Be healthier
