The Hollywood Diet

Posted by Tamar F.

Every drug store and GNC has 'em -- some version of the "Hollywood" or "Celebrity" diet. They come in 2 or one day versions. They are fruit juices with vitamins and herbs added, concentrated, that you mix with water. You drink 4 big glasses and THAT'S IT each day.

I have tried them. While expensive ($20), sometimes, you can buy them 2 for 1. It worked best the first time, since I didn't cheat! You can count of losing about 4% of your weight if you don't cheat. I think it worked for me because I was flushing out a lot of salts and drinking more fluids. The berry kind tastes better, but the citrus kind works better. I was able to fit into a pageant dress.

I'm not surprised--Hollywood is known for fostering lots of unhealthy eating habits. I think that fad diets which discourage eating and hype up the weight loss are totally flawed. I think that juice fasts can be great when it comes to detoxing, but you shouldn't detox too much or you screw up your body's pH--and also, the purpose of detoxing isn't to lose weight but to flush out toxins. I think there are healthier (and more long-lasting and effective) ways to lose weight. But it seems to me that this is just more of an overnight fix as opposed to a self-sustaining lifestyle choice. But maybe if I'm wrong, if you want to clarify a bit more?
