The best diet advice is not to rush into a diet

"Tomorrow I'll start my diet and this time I'll do it for sure!!"

When you say this, you're asking too much. You're asking too much of yourself and you're asking too much of a diet, even the best diet.

If you compulsively overeat and have weight control problems that are not caused by any specific medical condition, then you surely have non-food issues that you try to handle with food.

So - how can you simply say "tomorrow I'll stop doing this and stay on my diet"?

The truth is, there is the food part - and then there is the YOU part. It is the YOU part that needs attention, understanding, and insight. It is the YOU part that always brings the diet down.

So, next time, why not say this: "Tomorrow I'll go on a diet. This time I'll pay particular attention to the emotional, interpersonal, and life concerns that emerge as I curb my eating."

The YOU part is what will give you the best dieting support and make your diet work.
