Texas Trip and Weigh In

Posted Mar 17 2010 12:00am
WOW! I almost went a whole week without a post! That's unheard of with me! haha

The kids and I went home to Texas to see friends and family over this last weekend. My hubby had to stay behind to work :(

What a trip we had... I'm just glad we made it there and back with the trouble we had!

The drive from where we stay in Colorado to our home in Texas is about 6 hours, or five and a half if my husband is driving and the kids go to sleep. The kids and I left town right after my daughter got out of school on Thursday. I had the car packed and ready to go. We stopped for some food and filled up with gas and hit the road. I did really well and packed some healthy snacks. I always keep a bag of almonds in my car. The trip was going great until we got over the mountain pass on the Colorado-New Mexico border. There was a road block due to a bad wreck. The detour was 45 miles out of my way. Bummer.

We were driving down this detoured road and it was sunny and hot. I'd called my mom and told her where we were and that it was hot and I was turning on the air conditioner. Not even 10 minutes later, it was cloudy and a full on snowstorm. I couldn't see diddly in front of me. I had to slow down and grip the steering wheel. I'm a total freak driving in the snow and rain. I absolutely hate it! After the snow let up and the sun came out, we hit a patch of road that completely freaked me out. Long stretches of road with 3 inches of ice on it. There had been a storm a day or two before and this road was obviously never plowed! There were 5 foot snow drifts on the side of the road. Wow. I wish I'd have taken some pics.... oh well.

Drive a little further down the road and then I came across a sign that said "Expect 30 minute delays due to wildlife on the road". O M G. Are you serious?!? I passed about 75 trucks and trailers and they all had the words 'Wild Safari Club' on them. This is New Mexico, not Africa! I have no idea what they were doing. I never got delayed either, thank goodness!

We finally got back on course and then finally home to Texas. The trip took 6 and a half hours. I was completely pooped out by the time I got to my moms. I didn't eat well that night. Taco Bell. I did manage to get my workouts in. My mom has a treadmill and an elliptical at her house. I sweat my butt off Friday and Saturday morning! Go me!

Friday and Saturday I made my rounds to my sister in laws and my mother in laws. My best friend came to town to see me. I took 6 kids to the park with my mom. We had a super great time!!!! It was a great weekend and I had a blast seeing friends and family, but I was sooo excited to get back home on Sunday and catch up with my husband. I arrived back to Colorado just in time for the snow/rain mix. Yuck.

Moving on....
Monday was weigh in day. I was a little scared to get on the scale Monday morning due to my not so great eating over the weekend..... but I hopped on the scale and guess what!!???

~~~ 2.4 LOSS ~~~
Can I get a heck ya!!!!! I'd say that plateau is completely smashed and I hope to continue and have another loss next week! My new routine and menu is working! I am in love with the elliptical! Can you believe that! I can't wait to get to the gym and get on it.
What a great start to the week... been so busy though, this is the first time I've had to sit and tell ya!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a great week so far. I'm still trying to catch up on reading all of your blogs.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
