Summer 2013 To Do Update

Posted Aug 31 2013 7:00am

Last weekend Neal and I knocked a few more things off our summer 2013 to do list. We made our way to Great Falls on Saturday and then on Sunday we ventured out to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

Harper's Ferry

Harpers Ferry is a beautiful town, nestled between Virginia and Maryland, resting between the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.

The town is also along the Appalachian Trail, just about half way between Maine and Georgia.

After walking around the town, Neal and I walked across the river, taking in some of the sites.

The rivers are absolutely beautiful, making the town a great place to go for kayaking, rafting, and tubing.

Although I would not recommend visiting Harpers Ferry for their “fine dining”, it is a beautiful place to visit, to soak up the history, and to enjoy all that the rivers have to offer.

With two more items knocked off our summer to do list we’re getting close to accomplishing everything we set out to do in summer 2013.

1. Watch one outdoor movie – Watched Life of Pi

2. Eat at Ben’s Chili Bowl – Part of my U Street Adventure

4. Watch a classic film at home – Watched The Godfather

5. Visit Great Falls – A gem in the DC area

6. Go technology free for 24 hours – I went social media free instead

7. Read one non self help/weight loss book – Currently reading! Sadly it takes me forever…

8. See Monsters University – SUCH a cute movie!

9. Visit Harpers Ferry – Must go tubing next time!

10. Lay out by the pool all day – I have spent many hours by the pool this summer!

12. Eat Ethiopian food – Delicious, delicious food!

14. Go to a Nationals game – Celebrated the 4th of July at Nationals Park!

16. Have drinks with friends at a roof top bar – Local 16 on U Street

17. Create a running plan for late summer/early fall – Created and well under way!

19. Visit a new to me farmers market – We’ve visited Olney , Eastern Market , and Court House . Both were awesome!

20. Take Neal to Baked and Wired - By far the best in DC!

Eastern Market Peaches

3. Hike Old Rag

11. Use my bread machine

13. Try out a new sangria recipe

15. Visit the National Arboretum

18. Organize my photos on a rainy day

I’m excited to knock these last things off the list!  I know we’re going to hold off on Old Rag until it’s cooler and realistically we wont make it to the Arboretum, but it’s exciting to see us accomplish so much of the list.  It has been a great summer!
