Subway $25 Gift Certificate Giveaway and Tuscan Chicken Melt Review

I don’t go out to eat very often, but if a friend wants to go to lunch at a fast food restaurant, I will usually pick Subway because I know it is pretty easy to eat within my calorie allotment for the day, provided I don’t order cookies with my meal.
Subway contacted me and asked me to try their new Tuscan Chicken Melt (only available in October) and offer you the chance to win a $25.00 gift card to Subway that you can use to order that delicious sandwich or any of your choosing.
John was thrilled when I told him that I had to eat at Subway this week and he had to go along with me. We went on Friday and decided to split a 6″ Tuscan Chicken Melt sandwich because I know from past experience that if I eat the whole thing I am totally and completely full.
We ordered it on 9-grain wheat bread, had a half-order of provolone cheese, some cucumbers, lettuce, tomato, and no sauce or mayonnaise. The nutritional information for the sandwich we ordered follows.

As with all fast food, one of the main issues is the sodium content, and this sandwich is no different. It does have a lot of protein, which is good for me because that is one nutrient I have to struggle to get enough of because I don’t eat a lot of meat. John got some baked chips to go with his sandwich and I choose apple slices. He had coke and I had water.
The sandwich was tasty, had a distinctive Italian taste and was very filling. We had the sandwich toasted, which made me feel a bit warmer on a cold fall day here in the mid-South. I was completely full after the meal and appreciated the rare opportunity to not prepare a meal at home because I literally go out to eat less than 10 times a year!
