stomach fat?

Posted by lizrdz

I am 36 years old and I have a fairly active lifestyle. I guess I never really paid attention but for the past few years I've noticed that the upper part of my stomach, above the waist is pretty large.

I don't have any pain and I do ocassional sit ups without any problems. I believe that it is just fat but even with excercising and dieting this part won't go away.

I had galbladder surgery about eight years ago and afterwards the surgeon did mention that I had thick stomach muscles. I also have had an umbilical hernia and that was repaired without incident.

When I start to lose some weight my waist shrinks from the sides and back but the part right under my breast and above my bellybutton stays the same. Clothing looks unusual on me and I hate it. ( look pregnant)

Is there anything I can do about this or any suggestions. I have been to the doctor for routine check ups but I have never really asked about this particular problem.

You ought to check this out with a surgeon. You may have an abdominal hernia which will not go away no matter how thin you are. It can be corrected and probably should be because the abdominal muscles are weak.
