The best way to start a diet: figure out what you're going to snack on. It's hard to kick cravings, so when they set in, you'll want to have an arsenal of healthy indulgences on hand. According to the American Dietetic Association, here are some snacks that are yummy and will help you keep your hands off things you shouldn't be eating:
Kashi Chewy Granola Bars With about 140 calories per bar, these babies contain four grams of fiber and five grams of protein. They're sweet and contain real nuts and whole grains, and they're also a great alternative to vending machine candy bars.
Frozen Peas and Corn Frozen veggies are actually quite tasty, because the naturally sweet flavor is retained and they're not transforming into starch like their produce-aisle friends. A half-cup of peas has 55 calories and three grams of fiber; corn contains 72 calories and two grams of fiber. They're yummy, filling, and you have the added pleasure of the snack melting in your mouth.
Quaker Express Oatmeal If you're itching for something warm and microwave-friendly that isn't popcorn, a simple cup of Quaker Express is perfect. It's fast, it's easy, and oatmeal is more filling than dry cereal that has the same calories and fiber content. Quaker Express usually comes in a variety of different flavors, too.
