Shed Kitchen: Snack Girl Party Snack

Posted Dec 17 2009 5:19am
[Good morning! Today we have a guest recipe from the lovely Lisa, aka Snack Girl!]

Is it possible to make a delicious, healthy, easy, and inexpensive party snack? Of course! Try making a toasted tomato and cheese cracker from Snack Girl and serving it to your hungry revelers.

It’s really fast to make and simple to prepare (no real cooking here). Just assemble and pop into your toaster oven if you have one or under your broiler. They don’t have to be served hot (they taste delicious at any temperature). The key to their taste is to make sure you put some salt on the tomato. Salt brings out the tomato flavor and makes something special out of a snack that might turn out “blah” without it.

Wasa-Jarlsberg Party Snack

1 Wasa Cracker. Wasa Crackers are usually whole grain and yummy (about 60 calories). They can be found in the cracker section of any supermarket.

1 Slice Jarlsberg Cheese. Jarlsberg is a tasty and naturally lowfat cheese (40 calories for a slice).

1 Slice Tomato. And tomato – well it is just good for you.

Heat broiler or toaster oven. Slice tomato and sprinkle a little salt to taste. Place cheese on tomato and run under broiler until grilled (about 1 minute).

[Rachel's note: YUM! It's like a mini grilled cheese at your party...or just at your own table. I like any appetizer or snack that sneaks in veggies, and this one is just so simple and wholesome! Be sure to check out Snack Girl for more healthy snack ideas and reviews!]
