Saturday morning I attended SELF Magazine’s first ever Workout on the Quad!! 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of the Workout in the Park, and their first year holding the event on a college campus.
This year, American University in Washington DC won the chance to host the event on their quad through Her Campus . The day and location couldn’t have been any better if you ask me. AU has a gorgeous quad and the weather here in DC this weekend was perfect.
When I walked onto the quad I was so thrilled to be surrounded by students, alumni, faculty, and staff who wanted to workout and learn more about living a happy and healthy life.
On one end of the quad was a stage that hosted a plethora of fitness classes such as Stiletto Strength and Million Dollar Knockout, all of which were provided by CRUNCH .
In the middle of the quad was a CrossFit box sponsored by Reebok.
On the far end of the quad, opposite of the other stage, was the quiet zone. The quiet zone hosted all of the yoga and pilates classes.
Next to the Quiet Zone was a tent for Green Mountain Coffee , so I just had to stop by! I am a huge fan of all their products and was eager to try out their Vitamin Boost Strawberry Pomegranate Cold Brew Tea! Let me just tell you… It was absolutely amazing!! I’ve got to get a machine that does the cold brew stat!
There were a number of other sponsors at the event, set up in between the stages, including Crunch Fitness, Zico Coconut Water, Garnier, Her Campus, Victoria’s Secret, Sweet’N Low, LeSportsak, and Smartfood. More of these soon!!
My last stop of the day was at Wendy’s… Yes, Wendy’s .
Did you know that Wendy’s has salad spinners at every one of their restaurants and that they wash and cut all of their lettuce fresh each morning? Me either!
Their chicken is also cooked fresh in kitchen, as well as the rest of the produce used in their salads. I was honestly blown away by how fresh these salads are.
For lunch I enjoyed the Apple Pecan Chicken Salad with the Pomegranate Vinaigrette.
This salad was absolutely delicious. I just loved the chicken, blue cheese, apples and dried cranberries. I didn’t add the pecans to the salad, but I bet they’re an awesome addition.
The Workout on the Quad was such a fantastic event. I loved seeing this college community come together, to workout together and to learn more about the amazing sponsors.
I’m excited to hear about the location of future Workout on the Quad events! For those of y’all not on or near a college campus, don’t miss SELF Magazine’s Workout in the Park events in NYC (May 11) and Chicago (June 1).
