Psychology, the predominant way people change is through self help or self
change. Approximately 75 percent of people who change something significant
about themselves, do so on their own. This year, says Norcross, more people
will seek assistance from self help books than from professional counseling;
more people will get psychological information and advice from the internet
than from professional counseling. There are many self-help materials out there
and they can significantly enhance the power of self change.
