You'd be surprised at how important positive statements are as opposed to negative statements.

Try this out.

Say out loud to yourself: I just can't lose the weight.

  • How does this make you feel?
  • What do you think of yourself when you say this?
  • What thoughts follow after you say this to yourself?
  • What do you think this statement would lead you to do next?

Try this out.

Say out loud to yourself: I haven't been able to lose the weight yet, but I'm going to figure out how to do it.

  • How does this make you feel?
  • What do you think of yourself when you say this?
  • What thoughts follow after you say this to yourself?
  • What do you think this statement would lead you to do next?

There's a world of difference between the two. Your mind is very receptive to your self-statements. So be careful what you tell yourself.
