Portion Control Plates Help You Lose Weight

Posted by Nirmala N.

Looking to lose weight? Watching your portions (literally) can be the first step to a reduced dress size. According to a Canadian study, proper portion sizes measured out in a plate and cereal bowl helped obese patients afflicted with diabetes to lose weight and reduce their dependence on glucose-control medications. The plates were divided into sections for carbs, proteins, veggies, cheese, and sauce. Each held enough for an 800 calorie meal for men and 650 calorie meal for women, with a 200 calorie allowance for cereal and milk. Over a period of six months, half of the patients in the study (122, average age 56) used the portion control plates and bowls, while the others got the usual care. Those who used the portion control lost an average of 1.8 percent of their total body weight, compared to 0.1 percent among the other group.

I also heard that if you eat food on a blue plate you'll eat less. Blue doesnt trigger hunger because it isnt found much in nature.
