Peas, Sir. I Want Some More.

My sister and I have been known to bust out songs such as “Where is Love”, “I’d Do Anything” and “You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two” whenever the mood strikes us. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, see here. Classic.

After dealing with my mechanic all afternoon, I knew I wanted something easy and filling for dinner. The Dude and I have been talking about pea soup for a quite a few weeks now, and we were given some ham to take home after dinner at his aunt’s house this weekend.  FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD.

I took no other pictures between this one and the end result since this recipe is a) that easy and b) in the midst of blending the soup, we had an unfortunate accident. Let’s just say I had a lot of Pea on my pants and the Dude’s floor. (I am seriously amused with myself right now).

PEA, GLORIOUS PEA. (I apologize for the dark and bright pictures. I have yet to master my new camera.) The Dude made some delicious garlic ciabatta rolls to go along with the soup. We also paired this meal with the award winning, thought provoking “The Expendables” starting Sylvester Stallone, Steven Austin and numerous other wrestlers/meatheads.

Because nothing says “Food, Glorious Food” like old men with bad botox and exploding planes.

Pea Soup recipe adapted from Ina Garten’s Fresh Pea Soup.

  • Calci-yum.

Calcium, calci-yum – get it? That corny joke is for you, Christin Since my surgery left me with less than stellar parathyroids (read: 0 of 4. 0%. F), I need to take mucho calcium supplements daily. Your parathyroids are tiny rice sized glands on your thyroid that control calcium levels in the blood. Normal calcium [...]

  • Kripalu Scones.

I wanted the title of this post to be “Take Me Scone, Country Road” but I was worried that might be too corny – even for me.  As I mentioned before, in my review of my Crazy Sexy Weekend at Kripalu’s Center for Yoga and Health, I was infatuated with their ginger scones.  Delicious didn’t [...]

  • A Storybook Weekend.

Once upon a time, there was a (a very cute) boy and a (slightly bizarre) girl. They were very tired. They spent 2+ months making their house go from this (and this is cleaned up from the guy who live here before us!): To this:  (Technically they had help from a cranky contractor and the [...]

  • Power of Love.

For some reason, I woke up with this song in my head. It’s awesome. And it was in Back to the Future, which is also awesome, so I’m going with it. I’m trying to be positive about the fact that it’s Monday, so here are numerous other things I’m loving today: – Spending an entire [...]

  • Mornings with Deepak.

Thank you SO much for reading my Out of the Closet posts. Even if you didn’t comment, I’m glad you shared in the experience. It was pretty cathartic to write. I actually cried after writing the third one. They were happy tears though, don’t worry! I also put out into the universe that I’d like [...]
