Orlando Boot Camp Instructor Warns Us of the Diets to Avoid
It's no wonder that there is massive confusion in terms of what to eat, when to eat it, and more importantly, which path to follow? "There are so many fad diets, weight loss pills, and fat loss aids that it could drive a sane man crazy", Local Orlando Boot Camp Instructor Leanne Ellington tells us. "With all this misinformation and faulty claims, someone needs to set the record straight and enlighten everyone about what's really going on."
Here is Leanne's take on the Worst Diets Ever-- the diets that simply DO NOT work.
If you buy a product such as the "master cleanse" or the "Martha Vineyard Diet Detox" that supposedly flush out your liver, cleanse your body, and increase your resting hormonal levels, you are in for a surprise. You might see some initial scale weight loss, but it is due to loss of water and lean body mass-- it is not all body fat. Ellington states, "You have your kidneys, liver, and immune system to do naturally what these artificial substitutes are claiming they can do better. Your body does an excellent job of ridding itself of potential toxins all on its own."
2. Diets focusing on only a few foods or food groups
Diets like the "cabbage soup diet" or "grapefruit diet" can leave your body depleted of essential vitamins and minerals that it needs for survival. While these types of diets may actually work over short periods of time, they do not breed success over the long haul. "People need to focus on an entire lifestyle shift-- one that they can stick to and live with and not suffer". Any time you restrict a certain food, it triggers cravings for the forbidden fruit and sets up a restriction-binge cycle
3. Diets with 'miracle' foods or ingredients
If you see a diet promising you that supplements, fructose water, or apple cider vinegar will make you a lean machine, don't be fooled by these claims. Everyone is always looking for that magic pill or quick-fix, but there are no such miracle ingredients. Once again, you need to rely on eating the right mix of healthy foods, exercise (like the ones we do at our Orlando Boot Camp ), and moderation to lead you to that lean healthy life you are looking for.
