Spring Out of the Post Winter Slump

Spring is here, but you may still be feeling the winter blahs. The weather can’t make up it’s mind whether to stay nice or be chilly. Instead of letting the bi-polar weather get you down, use these natural cures to pick you up and perk you up. There are so many reasons to be happy, who wants to stay in their winter slump while that sun is shining?

Weight Gain

You may have gained some weight over the winter months. Maybe you didn’t have time for the gym or room to work out at home. Well, you no longer get to use the cold weather as an excuse. Even if it’s a little chilly, get up and get walking outside and enjoy the nature. Did you know that working out in the cold actually can help burn more fat? Maybe if you’d have known that you’d have been out walking in the snow or chilly winds. Now that you do know, though, you know to wear lighter layers while you are working out in the warmer spring weather.

Spring Cold

Many people suffer from those last inklings of the cold bug. The confused weather makes the body weaker. Spike up your immunity with a cup of pistachios a day. These tasty little nuts re rich in monounsaturated fats, good fats, that can help boost your immune system.

Aches and Pains

Spring rain and chill have your arthritis acting up? Getting to much fitness and causing your body to ache all over? Fight off pain with the natural anti-inflammatories contained in berries.

Munch on fresh berries or make yourself some fresh berry juice. Berries contain phenolics, and will help ease the pain in your achy joints. Some of the most antioxidant rich berries include blueberries and strawberries. But all berries are good for you and should be a regular part of your diet.

Sleepless Nights

Did the time change totally mess up your sleeping schedule? Some people feel like they never catch back up. A little meditation and a cup of hot tea before bed can help you relax. Tea with chamomile is very relaxing and helps induce sleep. Tea is also a great diet trick, as it makes you feel full and might just keep you from night time snacking!

If you have a friend willing to give you a relaxing massage, that too can help invoke sleep. Get Outside

No matter what your ailment, getting out and enjoying fresh air can help you get over it. It’s relaxing and invigorating at the same time. An awesome idea would be to go berry picking at a farm. You would get some exercise, fresh air and some healthy berries to add to your diet!
