Diet Blogs: A fresh start and a new attitude for Miss Michelle

Miss Michelle, a self-proclaimed writer and observer of all things absurd, recently stripped away her old blog and, 41 pounds lighter, fit her new body into a new, lighter blog. With a large group of followers and on-line cheerleaders to back her, Michelle continues to transform, both physically and mentally. Come join her in her new:

Fat Girl Camp

Michelle’s original post reads, “I needed a fresh start. I was so hesitant to write anymore because my old blog felt too heavy. The miracle of being turned down for weight loss surgery is that it broke me open. Instead of a breakdown, I had a breakthrough. Now that I have six weeks of clean abstinence and am 41 pounds down from my highest weight of 427, I feel as if I want to write about my insights and revelations along the road. So it is important on this journey to work diligently on my emotional self as well as my physical.”

Ten people commented on Michelle’s self-revelation. Daisyk said, “It’s when the disease has beaten you to a pulp and you’ve lost too much of your life that you have a chance of looking up from the gutter and saying, “Help!” BigAssBelle wrote, “I have ridden this thing all the way up to 368 pounds, and it is going to kill me. I do think I have a truly gut level acceptance of that. This is going to kill me and not later on. Soon. This is the time to make my recovery work.” And signgurl commented, “Self discovery is the first step, Michelle. I’m impressed with the fact that you have realized your emotional troubles and can now work on them.”

There are things we take for granted, such as chairs. For larger women, however, a chair with sides poses problems. Michelle recently encountered just such a dilemma. She wrote, “I asked the instructor if she could get me a chair without sides. She looked dumbfounded. She told me she didn’t think they had one. They must have a chair without sides in this building. I saw a lone little chair sitting in the hallway. I went over to it and said to the chair, “Ok chair, work for me baby.” I gingerly sat down and found it would work just fine. It had sides, but they were wide enough to accommodate my 382 pound body. I don’t try and hide behind my fat and act sheepish. I’m fat. That’s what my body is. Large. Super-sized. Call it whatever you want. I will be accommodated. I will not be shamed or turned away from a psychology class, for god’s sake.”

GinaBobina remarked, “I have the same trouble at work. They purchased hundreds of plastic chairs with metal skeletons where the seat is at an upward angle in the front to accommodate ergonomically (supposedly), but for my 380pounds, it’s too narrow for my big butt and thighs, so my legs hang over the sides and with the upward angle in the front it simply cuts off my circulation!” and signgurl said, “I’ve often thought about taking my own chair with me wherever I go. I got so tired of wondering and worrying about whether my fat ass was going to fit somewhere and whether the chair could hold my massive weight. I say we all rebel at the same time and have chair burning ceremonies.”
