Lance Armstrong is, to me and many others, the most inspirational athlete in the world.
Reading his book “It’s not about the bike” a few years ago actually got me interested in cycling as a sport. Just from hearing about his story and how inspiring it was.
It always annoys me when people will question his achievements and put it down to drugs.
The guy is a genetic freak. He’s got a heart bigger than the average person. His lungs are bigger. He has an incredible ability to tolerate lactic acid - much higher than the average guy. You can’t create that in a lab.
You can only create that through hard work and a good dose from the gene pool.
When you read his mum’s book (Linda Armstrong Kelly’s No Mountain High Enough) you’ll understand where he got his strong work ethic and positive attitude from.
This video is a great Lance Armstrong example. It’s an old one from his US Postal team days but it has a great message that everyone should check out.
