Low Fat Diets May Decrease Risk of Ovarian Cancer

Posted by Nirmala N.

According to a new study, low-fat diets may reduce the risk of ovarian cancer among women of post-menopausal age. The study revealed that after a four year period, women who decreased the fat content in thier diets were 40 percent less likely to develop ovarian cancer than those who followed normal fat-eating habits. Ovarian cancer has the highest mortality rate when compared to other cancers affecting the female reproductive system. In 2003 alone, 14,657 women died from ovarian cancer; and 1 in 69 women will develop the disease in their lifetime, while 1 in 95 will die from it.
