For vigorous eaters like myself who need help slowing down, here's a trick. I make sure to put my fork down between bites. Also, I try to not eat a lot during conversation.
It takes 20 minutes for your body to feel full, so make sure you pace yourself--even if you're starving. You may have eaten enough 10 minutes into your feast to satisfy the hunger beast, and don't even know it yet.
