Author Lorraine Clissold gives the skinny on Chinese eating habits

I’ve never personally been to China myself, but I’ve always been fascinated by how different the culture is there compared with what I’ve grown up knowing in the United States of America. The 2008 Beijing Olympics brought worldwide attention to this unique part of the world and now people want to visit this country to learn even more about Chinese way of life. One aspect of their lifestyle that is one-of-a-kind is their food habits and today’s podcast interview guest is a specific expert on Chinese cooking and eating.

In Episode 306 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from Chinese cooking cultural expert Lorraine Clissold who authored a book whose title immediately caught my attention when I first saw it called Why the Chinese Don’t Count Calories: 15 Secrets from a 3,000-Year-Old Food Culture. Spending a decade living in China, Clissold spent her time researching the Chinese food culture and even hosted her own cooking show on television there. She founded the Chinese Cooking School, which happens to be the first one to be dedicated to teaching Westerners the wisdom of the traditional Chinese diet. She truly is an all-encompassing authority on the ins and outs of diet and food in China.
