I’ve had the extraordinary opportunity to meet and interview some of the best and brightest people in the world of diet, health, fitness, and nutrition at “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore.” Now YOU can tell me who you’d like to hear even MORE from in a special week-long “Encore Week” in the first week of January 2010. E-mail me your TOP THREE favorite interview guests from 2009 along with any follow-up questions you would like for me to ask them and why you are voting for them to livinlowcarbman@charter.net. I will be taking nominations through November 30, 2009 so I can follow-up with your five favorite guests. You know who you liked the best, so send me your entries. Don’t forget to provide questions you would like for me to ask your favorite guests and I’ll be sure they are asked. THANK YOU for listening and I look forward to hearing about what your favorite interviews of the year were.

Dietitian Diane Kress has found the “miracle” for people with Metabolism B

Diet books come and go in the publishing world all the time, but rarely does a new book by a brand new author penetrate through the culture to make a real impact on the weight and health of the people who need to heed their message the most. And one of the hottest diet publications of 2009 just so happens to be a blatantly low-carb nutrition book that landed at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list during the summer. Did you know that? The author of that book has been quite busy doing media appearances galore, but she was generous enough to give me 90 minutes of her time to discuss this bestselling new book.

In Episode 296 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from dietitian Diane Kress author of the blockbuster book The Metabolism Miracle: 3 Easy Steps to Regain Control of Your Weight…Permanently is here with us to talk about her discovery of a concept she calls “Metabolism B,” aka MetB. For upwards of 45-48% of the overweight/obese population, the traditional low-fat diet just doesn’t work to bring about the necessary changes in body composition and health markers no matter how compliant they are with the program. Kress empathizes with this problem because she herself is a part of the MetB class of people. Through her voracious homework of all the latest research for those of us who are carbohydrate sensitive and respond negatively to carbs, she provides a process to overcome the most common problems.

In Part 1 of my interview with Diane Kress, you’ll hear her discuss why it’s wrong for doctors to blame their patients if there are no results from conventional lifestyle changes, what was her epiphany moment to discover MetB, how her fellow nutrition and health expert friends have responded to her low-carb plan, why she chose not to use “low-carb” to describe her plan, how The Metabolism Miracle is better than the Atkins diet, what signs to look for if you think you may have Metabolism B, why you need to request copies of your lab reports even if your doctor says everything “looks fine,” which health markers are most important (and it’s NOT total cholesterol which she says is “meaningless”), the processing of emotions when you have MetB, how alcohol responds differently in the body of someone with Metabolism B, whether age matters with making changes to your diet, what the specific stress points for people with MetB are, why the weight and health of people is getting WORSE because of the pharmaceutical industry, the expanding impact of The Metabolism Miracle worldwide, what Kress REALLY wanted to call her book (and why the final title is much better), why you start phasing in carbohydrates again after eight weeks and then “balancing” the fat, protein, and carbohydrates into almost equal ratios (a la The Zone Diet), why Dr. Atkins got it wrong for unnecessarily counting the carbohydrates in non-starchy vegetables, nuts, nut butters, etc., and how her “net carb” definition is different than the Atkins diet. Much more to come with this interview coming up on Thursday including what she thinks about The South Beach Diet!
