I'd Be Lying If I Said I Didn't Want a Bite of Your Food Porn

Posted Mar 25 2010 12:00am
Recently, I have been thinking a lot about whether food blogging has been detrimental to my weight loss goals. Not only is squatting to get the right lighting for a plate of pasta at a restaurant an awkward behavior in and of itself, but doing this throughout the day makes food become a bigger part of my life than I want it to be.

I just feel like I think about food 24/7 and if I stop blogging about it all the time, maybe it would help with the unusual craving for a Luna bar at two in the morning. Is this sound logic or am I being completely ridiculous?

"Reading" food blogs might also be part of the problem because to me, this entire category of blogs is just food porn with the masked appearance of being somewhat healthy. Don't even get me started on the food blog associated hunger pains that spread throughout my body like STDS at a swinger's party. They are fierce when I am looking at pictures of oatmeal and yogurt mixed with granola, as sad as that sounds.

I'm like one of those creepy old guys at the local Perkins who sits alone at a table in the corner gazing at unsuspecting drunk college chicks. Except I wouldn't be looking at their boobies;  I'd be looking at their gigantic stack of pancakes they ordered. Ooo la la.

I'm a food watcher at heart, but perhaps it's time to stop this obsession, so that I can focus entirely on my other obsession: getting rid of my moobies.

Lastly, Jordan and Jeff <3. Sad to see you guys go.
