I'm challenging myself to work on some problem areas. Being the over-achiever I am I decided to to the 100 pushups, 200 squats and 200 sit ups all together. I purchased the iPhone apps today and did my initial test. As expected my push ups score was horrible! I could only do TWO!! I have very poor upper body strength, so I totally expected that. I'm not sure I've ever attempted a real push up before, and to be perfectly honest I think I'll still have to start with girly push ups while I build up some strength. I'm sure the push up portion will take me more than 6 weeks but I think I can work up to 200 of the others in that 6 week time frame. I did 35 crunches, I may have been able to do more but I got distracted by my 7 & 5 year olds who were doing them with me and started laughing. I did 55 squats. I really thought I'd be able to do 50 with no problem but they were starting to get hard by 40, and judging by all the laughing the kids were doing and the expressions on their faces as the mimicked me I was doing some serious grimacing! When I don't want to work out, these 2 are what keep me going. I have to set a good example for them! I got lucky with the oldest, he is an athlete and has pretty sensible eating habits (for a teen) and is in great physical shape. I'll be doing the training for these on MWF mornings. I'm excited to see the difference this makes in 6 weeks!!
