How to lose those last 5 lbs?

Posted by Claudia A.

I've been struggling losing the last 5lbs. I weighted 127lbs and i am currently around 116lbs and im going away for winter break and to be at my best it would be 111lbs or so. I eat healthy food, drink a lot of water, dont drink alcohol that much and i try to work out every day. my workout sonsists of 30 minute cardio, i run 2 miles in about 20 minutes going up to 7 and after that i lift weights. i do some arms and lunges, squats , abs and i just dont know what else to do to lose the last 5 lbs. I try to change my workout but since school has got busy i im working now like 4 times a week instead of 5 like i used to do.. should i work out more? what should i do? any advices?!!

thanks fo ryour help!

I'm assuming your original goal weight was 116lbs; however, because you have to account for the added muscle resulting from your regular workouts(that's great), your body is probably saying, "whoa, that's enough." Truth is, it may not be as healthy for you to lose too much more. You have to account for the extra muscle. Reading your question, it sounds like you're doing great. Keep it up, and I wouldn't worry about the other 5lbs.

To get after the next 5 lbs, I would:

Exercise - Incorporate some version of HIIT training - depending on your time constraints, etither add in 3 x 20 min HIIT workets per week or reduce your cardio time to include the HIIT workouts - Cardio workouts are the least effective training method for fat loss

Diet - hard to recommend because I don't know what your current diet is, but if you are like most people, a reduction in starchy and/or processed carbs (bread, rice, pasta, potatoes) replaced with fibrous carbs (greens, broccoli, cauli, cabbage, peppers, etc...) is a good start

I might also suggest supplementing with high quality (molecularly distilled) fish oils
