There is no reason why a gluten free diet would be harder for weight loss- if anything, it means that you are likely to consume less processed food and therefore an overall healthy diet (not necessarily, but a lot of processed foods contain gluten).
Work out how many calories you need to take in for weight loss and base your meals around healthy gluten free carbohydrates (sweet potatoes, brown rice, etc), lean protein (beans, chicken, turkey, fish, low fat dairy), fruit/vegetables and small portions of healthy fats (avocado, nuts, seeds, olive oil).
