Have you ever found that some fattening food that tempts you makes your resolve to avoid being tempted and your commitment to stay on a diet stronger?

In psychological terms, external cues can “set in motion self-control mechanisms designed to counteract their own influence.” What this means is that it is possible for your mind to pretty automatically dismiss the influence of food temptation.

The no-temptation stick-to-diet effect can be enhanced by making the goal of losing unwanted weight very important and by calling upon your store of good self-control.
