Posted Mar 04 2010 3:35am

Fish_Tacos_sm Many people are scared of fish tacos and think that they will taste horrible or "fishy".  If you find the right recipe not only will they not taste "fishy", but you are going to want to add it to your healthy diet plans on a consistent basis.  This is a perfect recipe to fit into your healthy eating guidelines.

1 mango, peeled, pitted and cubed
1 avocado, pitted, peeled and cubed
1/2 red onion finely chopped
Juice of 1 lime
chopped fresh cilantro
2 large white fish (preferably mahi mahi or cod, 1 1/2lb total)
1 Tbsp blackening spice
8 Corn tortillas
2 cups finely shredded red cabbage
Salt and black pepper

Blackening spice:

1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cayenne
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp black pepper

Mix together into a spice which then you will use to sprinkle on the fish before you cook it.

1.  Mix the mango, avocado, onion and the juice of 1 lime in a bowl.  Season with cliantro, salt and pepper.

2.  Heat a stovetop pan until hot and drizzle a light coating of oil over the fish and rub on the blackening spice.  Cook the fish for 4 minutes.  Carefully flip with a spatula and cook for another 4 minutes and then remove.

3.  Warm the tortillas

4.  Break the fish into chunks and divide among the warm tortillas.  Top with the cabbage and mango salsa.

Note:  You can also use pineapple and peaches in place of the mango or together to add even more flavor to the salsa.

Don’t fear fish tacos ever again and add this fish taco recipe to your healthy diet plans.
