Hal Higdon’s Marathon Training, week 5, day 1

Posted Jul 26 2008 10:19am

33 minutes.

The weather was actually decent when I ran. Unfortunately, I had quite a bit of lower back pain that kept me from having too much fun.

Other then my last run I haven’t even thought about my back that much over the past few weeks. It’s been a month since I’ve been to the gym and I haven’t had much to complain about in that area. I guess a pounding on the road is just as bad as a pounding under the bar. Looks like it finally caught back up to me.

My back slowed me down so much early on that I missed my 20 minute marker by 45 seconds. On a day like this I could have hit that mark a lot sooner. That sucks.

Luckily the pain went away at about the turnaround point. The last 15 minutes were pain free and I decided to go as fast as I could. It felt good.
