Grown Up Diet Lemonade
A bunch of diet books and celebs have been touting the lemon juice/cayenne diet. But many diet experts are backing away from the liquid-detox diets, because other toxins can build up during starvation. Plus, any diet that makes it so you have to lie prone on a chaise lounge all day prevents you from building and retaining muscle tone.
Still, some of the concept made sense, acids and water "washing away" fat. I have been taking 16 oz. bottles of water, slugging back a few swallows to make some room. Then, I fill it back up to the top with Meyer lemon juice that you can buy at William Sonoma, add a few drops of Crystal hot sauce and a few Splendas. I say Splendas instead of Equal, because Equal can make some people bloaty.
Similarly, I take a little piece of Ann Louise Gittleman's Fat Flush Diet, in that I get a bottle of Knudsen's Cranberry Juice from Whole Foods (but not the 365 brand, I think it's "watery"), and I do the same thing - minus the hot sauce.
I get really bad water retention and can put on several pounds overnight after a sushi buffet, holiday dinners, anytime I eat more salt than usual. These beverages whisk the pounds off just as quickly! I think because they have a great taste, I drink more. But also, I do believe the acids help flush out weird salts, MSG, toxins, fats, etc.
I am not sure I completely understand. I have heard of this whole lemonade dieting thing. My mom tried it, but I do not think she had the right idea.
What is this new drink you have created. I would love to hear more!
Water, lemon juice, hot sauce and equal? YIKES!! It sounds awful. Does this work better than just a water pill? Do you eat any food while you are drinking this magic lemonade? How much of it do you have to drink and for how many days? I would love a fix for the bloat from certain foods. (BTW, splenda gives me horrendous bloating and cramps, but equal has no negative impact. We must all metabolize differently). Thanks!
