Currently I am at 140lbs. But I would like to be in the weight range of 130-135. I have an athletic build. I work out at least 5 days a week. But my eating habits are really bad. I need to learn portion control and to make better nutrition choices. The problem is, I don't cook. Nor do I have the time to cook. So a lot of my foods are frozen or come from some fast food restaurant. I tried eating lean cuisine and healthy choice, but I can't stand the food. One thing that I did was give up was juice. I used to drink several gallons of Cranberry and Orange juice every couple of days. I am hoping this will help me easily cut calories. I have done this for about a month and I have lost 8 pounds! I don't usually like to give up food, but the juice thing has been working.
I know that dieting is not a one time thing. It is a lifestyle change. So I am trying to find ways to make my exercise and food habit a lasting change to my life. I have more energy and I feel better about myself. But I am not perfect. I am really scared what the holidays will do to my progress. My goal is to post to this blog once a week. I think it will help me stay motivated and it's an easy way to keep track of my progress.
Hi Ugochi.. something I found as a helpful first step with food turnaround was drinking water whenever I can throughout the day, and always having a bottle with me. Being constantly hydrated helped me moderate my food intake as well as cravings; as for juice, the best picks (if you are a juice-a-holic like i am) is to pick the ones with no sugar/fructose and are not from concentrate -- though I would never give up juice, I gave up any kind of soda from my diet. When you do pick something up from a fast food place, maybe try getting the leaner choices like grilled chicken or fish with less/ no mayo or a salad with chicken. The little bits of effort do add up. Best of luck with the goal and logging your progress.. looking forward to seeing how it's going for you!
