Posted Jan 31 2013 2:41am
Did you know you can get skinny with fat? It may sound like an oxymoron but it’s true. If you’re looking at the screen with skepticism right now, don’t worry, I’ve seen that look before. Yes, you really can get skinny with fat. You just have to choose the right kind.

You Can’t Get Skinny with “Diet Food”

“Diet food” has got to be one of the biggest health scams ever invented. Millions of people have been sucked into this trap so if you have as well, don’t feel bad. These foods aren’t designed to help you lose weight, they’re designed to keep you addicted to and dependent on them.

Whether it’s a pre-packaged frozen meal, a box of 100-calorie snack cookies or diet soda, these are some of the worst foods to put into your body to shed pounds. This is because despite the low calorie count, they’re loaded with unhealthy additives, sweeteners, food dyes, and chemicals that wreck havoc on your health.

High fructose corn syrup is one of the worst offenders in this category. It has been clinically-proven that this synthetic sweetener contributes to obesity. Diet foods are also completely devoid of the nutrients your body needs to get healthy and maintain your weight.

5 Healthy Fats That Help You Get Skinny

You may have heard time and time again that fat makes you fat. Is it true? Well, yes and no. The trans fats found in fast food, microwavable convenience meals, vegetable oils, and instant meals can cause you to gain weight. But there are certain fats that can help you get skinny.

Believe it or not, fat plays a very important role in your ability shed pounds. Your body needs and naturally craves fat. This is why your diets always fail. You may try to exist on nothing but fat-free diet cookies and celery but find yourself guiltily shoving a cupcake into your mouth by the third or fourth day of any diet plan.

The trick to getting skinny with fat is getting rid of the unhealthy fat and replacing it with the healthy kind.

  1. Butter

When it comes to healthy fats, butter is always at the top of my list. Many of my patients I see are startled when I tell them to eat butter because they’ve heard that it will make them gain weight and put them at risk for heart disease.

Butter is actually very good for your health. It contains vitamin A, D, E, and K to help improve your vision and keeps your endocrine system functioning well. Butter helps cut down on the pain and inflammation of arthritis and greatly improves your digestion. The better your digestion, the easier it is to assimilate nutrients from the food you eat so you stay fuller longer.

  1. Coconut Oil

Slow metabolism is a common reason many struggle with weight loss. When you add pure organic coconut oil to your diet, its medium-chain fatty acids go to work boosting your metabolism and filling your body with the nourishment its been craving.

It’s also been proven that coconut oil balances your blood sugar and cuts down on yeast overgrowth in the body. Chronic candida infection is a common problem for millions of people and can severely impact your ability to shed pounds.

  1. Avocado

The secret weight-loss ingredient in amazing vegetable is mannoheptulose. This is a rare type of sugar found primarily in avocado that helps stabilize your blood insulin levels, which, in turn, helps you stay satiated long after a meal. Avocados are one of the fattiest vegetables but they’re designed by nature to help you get skinny. Add them to your salad or make your own guacamole. It’s one fatty dip you can indulge in without the guilt.

  1. Olive Oil

Extra virgin olive oil is a great healthy fat because it helps you burn fat. Studies have shown that adding extra virgin olive oil to your food improves your digestion, stabilizes your blood sugar, and decreases inflammation. Chronic inflammation promotes fat storage and can make losing weight very difficult.

  1. Nuts

Nuts are a great snack to lose weight because not only do they provide your body with healthy fat, they also contain a lot of protein. Eating plenty of protein while you’re trying to lose weight is a good idea because it helps stabilize your blood sugar and keeps you fuller longer. They’re the perfect snack for you to take on the road with you to avoid that fast-food and vending machine temptation.

Losing weight doesn’t have to be impossible and you don’t have to starve yourself to get skinny. Instead of going on another wacky diet plan, eat a whole-food diet with plenty of healthy fats and get plenty of moderate exercise. You’ll have the body you’ve wanted in a matter of months.
