Fun-Filled Friday: Creepy Cat, MyWebWill, Taubes, Knock Knock, 700-Pounder, Sleeper, Shovel Snow, And Photo Game

Posted Jan 02 2010 10:16am

I’m running late on this edition of “Fun-Filled Friday” (yes, I know it’s Saturday now!), but I couldn’t start off a brand new year without doing one of my favorite segments of the week sharing some fun and interesting stuff that may or may not be related to diet, health, and fitness. It’s an eclectic blend of this, that, and everything in between, so let’s start off 2010 with a bang! Here goes!

As the owner of four cats, I can certainly relate to the reaction of this creepy black feline:

You don’t mess with kitty when she’s acting like this. This guy obviously had her claws clipped because my hand would be a bloody pulp if I had done that. In fact, if my Muffin, Ginger, Smokey, or Peaches clawed me in just the right place, then I may need to use the services of MyWebWill:

It’s an interesting concept I’m surprised nobody else has thought of before now. Speaking of interesting, someone who is ALWAYS on point and tells the truth about high-fat, low-carb diets is Gary Taubes who was recently on ABC-TV’s Good Morning America with Robin Roberts:

I’m so happy to hear that the message of Good Calories, Bad Calories is still getting out there more than two years after the book was released. My favorite part is when he said, “I think saturated fat is probably harmless.” Robin reacted with a shocked “it’s HARMLESS?!” The AHA response was so typical…”living in the 1970s” as Gary said. Classic! Wanna see somebody who’s just a wee bit too enthusiastic about the role exercise and “burning calories” is to healthy living:

I admire his tenacity! Passion for what you believe in is something I highly respect. You can’t help but be moved by this dramatic reading of poem entitled “KNOCK KNOCK”:

WOW! That’s somebody who has dealt with life’s blows and overcome. Way to go man! How about the story of a woman who weighed in at 700 pounds and went on to lose over 500 pounds? Inspiring to say the least:

Awesome stuff! I hope and pray she continues this journey she has begun and redeems all those years she lost to morbid obesity. I recently received an e-mail from a reader who asked if I had seen the 1973 Woody Allen movie called Sleeper and I replied that I had not. I was born in late 1971 and never saw a movie until Star Wars came out in the late 1970s. My reader noted that there was a scene towards the beginning of the film that was relevant to low-carb, so I found it. This was utterly incredible!

How about that? Woody Allen was trying to be facetious I’m sure, but he hit the nail almost on the head (sans the hot fudge or cream pies). Maybe he should watch this video clip from Tom Naughton’s FAT HEAD documentary featuring Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades about sugar and starch:

Amen and amen! The truth speaks for itself! Now that we’re in the winter months and people across the nation are dealing with the “white stuff” (except for those of us in the South!), here’s an excellent video about the proper way to shovel snow:

Great stuff! Finally, I’m gonna leave you with a guessing game photo. Who is this?

(Several of you answered it correctly: President Barack Hussein Obama — looks like that first year in office has really aged him!)

The first person to e-mail me at the full name of the person in the photo above will receive a FREE e-book copy of both of my books: Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb and 21 Life Lessons From Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb. GOOD LUCK and THANK YOU for reading my blog. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and may 2010 be the best year ever!
