To play by the rules, you've got to know what the rules are.
This may seem quite simple when it comes to dieting. Just find a good diet plan. Then stay on it all the way to your weight loss goal. These aren't rules. They are merely a rough outline of the process of dieting. The rules of dieting are anything but simple. If rules are guidelines for you to follow, what are the guidelines of dieting?
One clear guideline is to pick a diet plan. Actually, when you pick a diet plan, you are really mostly choosing a food plan. So let's see what rules govern a food plan?
Yes, there really are food plan rules. Call them rules of thumb or see them as hard and fast, they are rules nonetheless. There are quite a few. There's selecting a food plan that is good for you, one that gives you the nutrition you require. Another "good for you" rule is that a food plan should fill you sufficiently so that you don't feel deprived or get hungry. A food plan won't work well if you don't cover yourself for these two rules.
Then there's the added requirement (rule, that is) that your food plan should contain weight loss food that you like. Here comes still another rule that some people follow to a "T". Food preparation shouldn't be so hard that it discourages you from dieting. As you can see, there are plenty of rules that apply to the food plan alone. I'm sure this is not all of them. You most likely will think of some I've forgotten.
