I've been kind of MIA for the last few days. The reason is things are finally working out. I've been working on the finances for the last few years and things are finally turning around.

This whole mess actually began a little over 10 years ago. I had been in business with a partner who ended up screwing me over and leaving me with all the bills. At the time I spent a few years getting everything paid off but my credit had been trashed. Luckily I had kept the work stuff separate from the day to day stuff so Hubby's credit wasn't affected. Anyway, at this time I also returned to school. Lots of things were going on financially in my life. I got things paid off and thought everything was going well when the IRS reared it's ugly head. At one point there were seizures and bills went unpaid and things I had worked so hard to clean up were a mess again. Well, about 2 1/2 years ago I decided enough of this crap. I worked hard to get everything straightened out. I had liens on my credit that had been paid off but never cleared, jeez - that's not easy to fix!! I put my mind to getting us completely out of debt. As as of a couple of months ago I was doing a damn fine job of it. All we had left were a car loan, my student loans, 1 credit card bill, and the freaking taxes. Well, the tax thing finally came to head two weeks ago.

I get a certified letter in the mail that the IRS has decided I defaulted on my installment agreement and they were going to levy my bank account. I had 30 days to respond. I blew. I had not defaulted. I have no idea what the hell they were talking about. I owed $2600 and I was bound and determined to find the money to pay this off. I was tired of dealing with them and I wanted them out of my life. I decided to try a Debt consolidation loan. I went to a bank and, because I had worked so hard to straighten out my credit, was able to qualify for a loan to pay off the IRS and two small outstanding debts that I had somehow lost track of. I sent the final checks off last Wednesday. Everyone got them and I am now officially out of debt. Well, except for the consolidation loan but that is not for that long since it wasn't much money.

So that's why I've been MIA. I've been relaxed, not stressed and really had nothing to write about. My financial life seems to be finally working out and I'm happy as could be. So there you have it. We will resume our regular talk of workouts and such soon, I promise :)
