Fabulous Fall Weigh-In: JC Week 6

Posted Oct 28 2012 12:00am

Autumn has arrived! Which means that life is back to normal – school’s in, my schedule is busy, and obligations abound. But I won’t use those as excuses to slack on my goals. The great thing about fall is that the weather is cooler and there are no holidays or other social commitments to derail me from strictly adhering to my food and workout plan. I’m determined that fall 2012 will be when I achieve my pre-surgery weight loss goal. Since weekday mornings are hectic, I’m moving my weigh-in day to Sunday. Sundays are the perfect day to weigh in because I don’t have any other morning obligations and can focus on my weight loss. Plus, Sunday weigh-ins will keep me accountable through the weekend. Throughout the fall, I’ll be giving Sunday progress updates called Fabulous Fall Weigh-Ins.

Week six on Jenny was another amazing one. At last week’s JC meeting, my consultant asked me what my mini goal was, and I kept that goal in mind throughout the week as I got in a few good workouts, stuck to the plan, and started seeing the difference in the way my clothes were fitting.

That’s wonderful Bella, but what were the results on the scale?!!

This morning I weighed in at 299.4!!! This was the goal that I’d stated last week with my Jenny consultant – that I’d finally get under 300 lbs once and for all. This is a loss of 4.2 lbs this week!! So now I have 18 pounds to go to reach the pre-surgery requirement.

I completely believe this quote to be true, because it happened this week. I spoke my goal, believed I could do it, and made it happen. My next goal? To get to 289 lbs, which I want to achieve by Thanksgiving.

But let’s get back to this week – I got to 299.4!!! I am beyond thrilled that I had such a fantastic week, especially in week 6! I’m so proud of myself, especially because I resisted the temptations that presented themselves this week, and you know what? It was easy because I knew nothing was worth not reaching that goal this week. To celebrate, I’m going to get a long overdue pedicure tomorrow. I found a great place that’s really inexpensive, and I can’t wait to have pretty toes. I earned a bit of pampering.

Beyond the scale, I’ve been noticing that my stomach is getting smaller and my clothes are fitting better. Just yesterday my sister told me that she could see the weight loss in my face, especially my neck. I love it!

As much as I love Jenny Craig, I’ve been really worried about how I was going to continue on the program because of the cost. Just the Jenny food alone is $500/month, plus the veggies, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, and string cheese that I need to supplement the menu, which is another $40 or so a week. I’ve been stressed about what to do because I can’t truly afford it, but it’s working so well. In the past two years, nothing else that I’ve tried (and you guys know that I’ve tried EVERYTHING!) has worked this well for me. But having money problems because of budget cuts and not being able to make ends meet is just upsetting beyond words. Thankfully, my parents are incredibly supportive of me, and they’ve agreed to loan me enough to cover the JC costs for the remainder of the year. That is a huge load off my mind!

This week I’m going to hit the pool again, and now that I have the swim cap and goggles, I’ll be able to avoid the bloodshot eyes and blurred vision I had last week at the over-chlorinated gym pool. I’m also planning to ride my bike and do the Zumba DVD at home. 225 minutes is the goal again this week.

Until next Sunday, my friends. I hope the scale treats you well, and that you have a wonderful week!
