Don't believe in target training!

Posted by Kim N.

I can't handle it when I'm watching television on the weekend and I see all of the infomercials selling exercise equipment promising to "tone up those abs" or focus on problem areas such as thighs or butt. I might be bursting your bubble with this one, but it's important you know the truth: It's impossible, I repeat, impossible, to target train. Sit-ups will not take away fat from your abdominal area. Thigh exercises will not take away fat from that area. The only way to decrease body fat is to create a caloric deficit by consuming less calories or burning a large amount of calories through exercise (or a combination of both). And even then, your body decides where it wants to take the fat from to use as fuel. So, try not to focus on your problem areas. With a regular exercise and healthy eating regime, you will start to see improvements!

When I can't sleep it is amazing how logical and reason go out the window and all of sudden you start to believe that the target training can actually work. You must love the ab belt thing that works your abs for you so you don't even have to diet or exercise to get a 6 pack! LoL
