Does Your Pattern of Eating Really Help You Get Away From Uncomfortable Thoughts and Feelings

Is eating too much food or too many calorie dense foods a
“safety” for you? A safety in the case of eating is eating to avoid
uncomfortable thoughts and feelings and mood states. You can set your safety in
motion before, during, or after having the uncomfortable thought or feeling.
You can also activate your safety just if you have a premonition that you could
have an uncomfortable thought or feeling or mood.
Is this something you do? If so, you should know that using
a safety such as food to handle your uncomfortable thoughts and feelings
actually reinforces the fact that these uncomfortable thoughts and feelings are
indeed too hard for you to deal with straight up; and so the cycle of eat them away is likely to continue.
