Disappointed

Posted Jun 03 2008 3:04pm 3 Comments
I just did a quick check-in on the scale, and I’m pretty disappointed with what it said. I’m only down .7 right now.

I have no idea what would’ve caused this. There weren’t any parties or outings at all, and I stuck to the fast perfectly. I just had my TOM, so I don’t think that’s it. I’ve been drinking tons of water. I worked out this week, too. Nothing out of the ordinary happened at all this week that would cause me to lose so little weight.

I know that .7 is still a loss and that there are normal body fluctuations, but considering how restricted this fasting program is, I expect to lose at least 3-4 pounds each week. Otherwise, it’s not worth it, and I would go back to eating real food.

I’ve done really well on this program so far, but it hasn’t been easy. I’m going to give it one more month (this month of June) and then re-evaluate whether to continue it in July. If I have another bad week like this one, I may stop the fast a month earlier than I had planned to. It’s not worth the money and the willpower it takes to stay on this fast unless the results are pretty phenomenal.

Now of course, I could be jumping the gun a bit and I may get on the scale at the medical office tomorrow afternoon and see a big loss, but somehow I’m thinking that isn’t going to happen. I’ll keep you posted with my official weigh-in results tomorrow, but for now I’m sort of discouraged.

I’m going to try to fit in one more workout tonight to see if that can help things. Here’s hoping.

It's probable that you've slowed your metabolism by fasting. You may find more success with a different approach. Try checking out some of the recent posts here at the Weight loss forum for some other things you might try.

Hi Bella,

There can by any number of factors that lead to minimal weight loss. How long have you been doing this program? There are some plateau periods where you need to change up the rountine a bit. It also helps me to eat consistently (to keep the metabolism stable and minimize food cravings) through the day - good meals with fruit, nuts, yogurt, cheese, veggies, cereal, or other small snacks in between. Also, are you sleeping enough? And, regard to 3-4 pounds per week, that can be a lot. The suggested weekly weight loss amount is 2 pounds.

Hang in there.

Kathleen
