Dieting Motivation: Can You Keep Yours High?

by Maria's Last Diet

If your weight loss diet becomes simply another "should" in your life, you will have trouble sticking with it. If losing weight is a should instead of a want, you're likely to react against it.

It is a good recipe for diet failure. But there are definitely ways to keep this from happening. You can do all you can to make dieting fun and enjoyable and satisfying.

Since the actual rewards of going on a diet don't come right away, you need ways to sustain yourself and feel good about what you are doing as you go. You need to remind yourself many times of what you want from losing weight. For example:

  • I want to look better
  • I want to feel better
  • I want to be more in control of my life
  • I want to wear beautiful clothes
  • I want to run without getting tired
  • I want to feel proud of myself
  • I want to have more energy
  • I want the satisfaction of accomplishing my goal

Staying in close touch with what you WANT - as opposed to what you SHOULD do - will keep your dieting motivation high.
