Day two of however many, in "diet head."

Posted Oct 23 2008 9:20pm

I preface this by saying, I'm slightly motivated right now - and with the goal of plastics in mind.  I want to be as close to goal as possible for that day - considering!  I can't have the tummy RETUCKED, yanno.

Weight

  • 162 lbs.  -3 lbs

Ate

  • 1 oz Cytosport Muscle Milk Light Chocolate Mint in coffee/as "creamer" (25 calories)
  • 1 serving Progresso Light Vegetable Soup (60 calories)
  • 1 lowfat mozzarella cheese stick (60 calories)
  • 1 scoop Matrix 5.0 Orange Creme/4 oz soy milk/1 oz fruit puree/20 oz ice (250 calories)
  • 8 oz soy milk in two cappuccinos (100 calories)
  • 2 servings/1 can Progresso Light Vegetable Soup (120 calories)
  • 1 slice spinach/tomato/provolone on pesto bread (200 calories?)
  • BLOOD SUGAR CRASH - tested, 50 mg. 90 mins after eating
  • Two gulps, 2 oz Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein Latte (10 sugars)
  • 1 serving apple cinnamon rice cakes (60 calories, 4 sugars)

It just occurred to me - that I am sort of doing what lots of people in the bariatric world call the "pouch test."  It's been the way of rebooting weight loss after a plateau, stall or regain.  It's what people like us revert to when other things just don't do it for us.  I'm not a plan-follower, obviously, so I do my own versions of things - and I change it up as necessary, since many of the foods don't work for me.  Also, I count the calories, too - because the listed plan doesn't.  I could easily overdo the protein shakes (some of which can top 300 calories if I'm doin' it right!) and get in too many calories if I wasn't thinking about it.  I have that kind of all-day-long hunger.

The pouch test at Kaye Bailey's site says this:

"The first two days are all liquids. You can have as many low-carb protein shakes as you like to satisfy hunger or cravings. In addition drink at least six 8-ounce glasses of water each day. The purpose of all liquids is to break any snacking, grazing or processed carbohydrate habits. In addition the liquids will work to cleanse your system and prepare you for the following three days."

See, AS MANY ain't gonna fly here, at least not for shakes or actual foods.  That didn't work for me while doing any other diet plan, and it sure as hell isn't going to work now, unless we're having unlimited portions of - say, broth and celery, kids.
