I just got back from the gym and am feeling great! I wasn't feeling this way intially, though. I ALMOST felt like skipping out on my workout this morning. Why? you ask. Because I have PMS. (Yes, I know there are a few men out there reading this -- Sorry, boys!)
A lot of women who I know skip out on their workouts during their periods because they don't feel good. Trust me, I know it's uncomfortable, painful, and just yucky. But, believe it or not, working out is a great way to mitigate the symptoms of PMS: headache, cramps, bloating, etc.
Moderate exercise is great for overall fitness and helps reduce stress. Exercise • Raises HDL (''good cholesterol'') • Reduces triglycerides (fats) in the blood • Builds strong bones • Increases heart and lung capacity • Causes the release of endorphins, nature's mood elevators • Increases oxygen and blood flow to muscles, reducing tension • Reduces fluid retention and bloating
My point...Working out today was great! My PMS symptoms weren't as bad throughout the rest of the day. Plus, I did see the "Guy With One Leg" at the gym today, and again, he was very motivating to watch.
