Metabolic syndrome is a medical term given for a cluster of abnormal conditions such as obeisity, high blood pressure, etc. People with metabolic syndrome are 2x more likely to die of heart disease.
Here are some conditions that may determine if you have metabolic syndrome.
1. Obesity. Measure your waist at your navel. If your waist is 35 inches or more (for women) or 40 inches or more (for men), you have abdominal obesity. A beer belly or "apple-shaped" body is more common in men. But while women are more likely to be a "pear-shaped," they can also be apple-shaped.
