Completed week 2.......results and summary...and a few words of advice

Posted Oct 08 2009 10:01pm
65 lbs total extra weight to lose

11 lbs lost (1st week)
4 lbs lost (2nd week)

Total weight loss of 15 lbs in 14 days.

50 lbs to go!

So there are all the new numbers to check out! Am I happy with them? Its funny cause I guess I should be. I mean to lose another 4 lbs the second week..not too bad. But, no matter how much experience I have in losing weight....in the back of your mind you are always wishing for that crazy number to just appear. But reality is...one of the key factors that I have grown to learn in weight loss success is patience dear friends!
But I will say this...

I had really busted my butt to get those 4 lbs off this week.

CARDIO
What I have started doing once I started my 2nd week (once I gave my body time to get used to all the machines again)...is what I would like to call "circuit cardio"
This is something that I have used in the past, where I choose and combine 4 completely different machines at the gym, and basically do 15 minutes consecutively on each, to make a total of 60 minutes (1 hour) of cardio/day. When doing this I try and make sure to get to the next machine in as less time as possible so that my heart rate doesnt drop in numbers too much... but stays fairly high, and then, I am back at it again.

There are reasons why I choose to do my cardio in this form...

(1)something that just seemed to really work in the past for me where it built up my endurance alot more quickly then if I just stayed on just one machine while my body worked the same parts for 30 minutes...

(2)giving my body always a mix.. so my body and muscles are never used to doing the same movements repeatedly.

(3)I find this way helps me sweat alot more(love sweating friends) so in end I believe I burn more this way.

(4)takes away the boredom out of doing just 1 or 2 machines and makes my cardio time go by faster. No one likes to get bored. So try and switch things as much as you can.

So in summary as far as where I am at..this week my endurance really got up there. I already see a huge difference in what i can handle and do. Each week just gets better and easier friends remember that.
I was able to finish the week off by increasing my level of cardio on each machine. This was good so next week I will be working one higher level.

I have increased my treadsmill speed when doing a light jog to 4.5. Where when I started I was around the 3.5/3.8 mark.

Also instead of doing 1 minute increments when doing my walking/jogging combo..I am up to 1 minute walk 2 minute jog combo. So I am happy with that knowing that I can handle a steady jog for 2 minutes comfortably. Again remember friends..it only gets better.

You guys remember that machine I called "toughy" (row machine) well 15 minutes was no problem at all this week! No heavy breathing. My muscles seem to have gotten used to it again so I dont feel the burn so much in my legs, abs, arms and shoulders which is good! Was able to concentrate more on picking up the pace instead of just trying to get through the 15 minutes.

Just overall improvements!

WEIGHTS
Well I think I mentioned last blog that I was playing with 7-15lb weights when doing muscle workout.

I have also been able to increase this to all around 20 lb free weights. So I am really happy about that. I still have a little ways to go friends. Still much weaker then what I used to be. I used to love using the weights, it was my favorite part of my workout, especially once I got to the 30-35lb free weights..so I just need time to build to get up there again.

DIET
Still trying to focus on a higher protien lower carb no sugar diet. Body wise I have adapted to it real well. I dont have any cravings anymore for sugar but now are just thoughts that within minutes go away.

I am used to the no whites now..no bread and rice etc..
So feeling good. Energized. I can handle my hard ass workouts well so this says alot because for what I do at the gym..if the diet wasnt suited for me...I would seriously not be able to handle those kind of workouts. So its all good.

I would like to mention however that last week I went through a good 4 days where I came home, after a workout and felt so sick and nauseated. I could not figure out for the life of me why? I was fine before the workout, why after...but then i realized something. I stopped taking my multi vitamin..and guess what..no more feeling sick. Strange huh? Maybe it was just too strong for my system i dont know. I am just glad I dont have to feel that anymore that wasnt fun!

Anyways thats the summary. I have my day off today (Thursday)so I am happy about that. Working out 6 days a week can be real tough. By nearing the end..you start to really feel it..you know you need that break. During my day off not only do I have time to do things I didnt have a chance to do, but its also a time for my to reflect on what i have accomplished already and to organize in my mind what I plan on tackling the following week. How I intend to push myself and to keep me focused on what I am aiming at doing. This is very important. Everyone needs time to reflect, to give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done..and to keep moving forward.

I also want to mention some other points I have learnt through my own personal experience...

It is important when doing weights..to always use controlled movements and try your best to have proper positioning.
When doing your weights make sure that your movement is controlled both up and down. Alot of people including myself sometimes will start the exercise off well..and then when going down especially if your muscle is getting tired..tend to not preform as well. There should be no bouncing or swinging...remember slow and controlled. Concentrate on the muscle you are working...and focus your attention on really working that muscle. There should be no rushing though it.

Positioning is also really important. You know I look at this way friends. If you are going to seriously bust your you know what in the gym...wouldnt you rather do it correctly then to waste your time doing it incorrectly?
LOL
I know I personally would rather it done right with all the hours I spend there. LOL
Just a thought!

Anyways..a few thoughts to keep in mind that I thought I would shoot out there.

Physically in only 2 weeks I can already see my body starting to change. I notice a difference as far as sculpting and fat loss is concerned. I remember my old trainer once said to me..not to worry.. That the muscle that I built up in the past its all still there. So I am keeping this in mind while tackling these next few weeks and hoping this is the one thing that will help me lose a little quicker trying to get off the extra weight I put on.

My goal is to lose this extra weight I put on within about an 8 week period. Not sure if I can do it..but this is my goal. I am going to try my best in achieving this goal as well.

Goals and dreams are what keep you going. Remember them, for they will carry you through. Remember to have patience taking it day by day..or week by week.Don't allow yourself to look further than that.Concentrate on what you are doing to/for your body rather then numbers. I put the numbers on here more for you guys since you all cannot see me. But truthfully..I concentrate more on my fat loss and how my body looks and how my clothes start to fit. And whats an added bonus is the confidence building that comes with it!!

Also remember friends you have to really BELIEVE that you CAN get there. VISUALIZE it! See yourself there at the end! Hold on to that feeling. Minutes, days or even years DO NOT EXIST ANYMORE. What does EXIST is only TODAY. And how you can change TODAY to make TOMMOROW better.

Its amazing how mind over matter is really how it works, this is with anything in life! BELIEVE my words when I tell you that your body WILL respond no matter who you are or what you want to accomplish. These thoughts are what got me through my 12 month transformation..and these same thoughts is what WILL get me through the next 8 weeks to succeed once again! Imagine I am going to embark on this for a second time! Ok perhaps not having to lose as much, but nevertheless I will prove to you all once again, that it can be done. And that if I can do it...ANYONE can.

When you are ready and determined to change, YOUR body will WELCOME the new change that you want to make. Keep in mind too when trying to change your body or life for that matter, that, if many others have done it, and HAVE succeeded, what makes you different? What holds you back really? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Just like them, you can push through it and achieve whatever it is in life that YOU want. And you DESERVE every bit of success like the others. As long as you are following and incorporating a healthier new way of eating, whichever meal plan that best suits your needs, and exercising everyday so that your body can breath again, and feel good again....results will follow.

I will talk to you soon ok.
Later gators!:)

Come on week 3...ready for ya! See you all back here next Thursday!
