Friends! Are you still out there?

Of course you are. It’s me that peaced out.

It’s me, it’s me! Posting only about 7…8 (?!) months later (no biggie).

Sometimes you need a rest, a break, hiatus – a sabbatical as I like to refer to them. Those sound way more academic, no?

This month I’ve really been missing the blog and the writing. I’ve been missing a lot of things because I have 5 weeks of from work. Why you ask?

Surgery for The Big C (no, not chocolate.) Cancah. Or cancer, for those of you not from the New England area.

Yep. Life Update Numero Uno. Big Girl Gets Thyroid Cancer. I’m totally fine now, with the exception of the wackiest calcium levels this side of a small child and no thyroid – and I’ll have to have follow up treatments in January. In the grand scheme of life though, things are great.

Didn’t really pull any punches giving you that life update now did I. Pulled that band-aid off like woah!

But in all honesty, I miss your blogs, I miss you, I miss writing. I miss checking in on people’s creative ideas and lives (even if we have never met, yes it is weird) recipes, foods, cute pets. I miss documenting my life, in a weird way, and reflecting on what I’ve learned.

2010 has been INSANE. Am I the only one, or has it been insane for a lot of folks?

In no particular order: I got into grad school – decided not to go. Met an amazing Dude – we’re about to celebrate our 1 year anniversary together. Hurt my leg/hip/back in the beginning of the year and had to break up with runing- it’s finally feeling better! Went through a three month yoga/meditation workshop – hello, amazing. Fell out of love with vegetarianism and flirting with getting back together with it. Found out I’ll have to have aortic valve replacement in 3-5 years. Spent most of my summer weekends on an island. Learn to finally swim the crawl! Oh yeah, and the whole cancer thing.

I’m deciding what, where, how and a billion other questions right now – including how I want to revamp my blog to encompass sooooo many other things, interests and ideas that have happened in the past year.

But for now,

Hello again.

  • Calci-yum.

Calcium, calci-yum – get it? That corny joke is for you, Christin Since my surgery left me with less than stellar parathyroids (read: 0 of 4. 0%. F), I need to take mucho calcium supplements daily. Your parathyroids are tiny rice sized glands on your thyroid that control calcium levels in the blood. Normal calcium [...]

  • Kripalu Scones.

I wanted the title of this post to be “Take Me Scone, Country Road” but I was worried that might be too corny – even for me.  As I mentioned before, in my review of my Crazy Sexy Weekend at Kripalu’s Center for Yoga and Health, I was infatuated with their ginger scones.  Delicious didn’t [...]

  • A Storybook Weekend.

Once upon a time, there was a (a very cute) boy and a (slightly bizarre) girl. They were very tired. They spent 2+ months making their house go from this (and this is cleaned up from the guy who live here before us!): To this:  (Technically they had help from a cranky contractor and the [...]

  • Power of Love.

For some reason, I woke up with this song in my head. It’s awesome. And it was in Back to the Future, which is also awesome, so I’m going with it. I’m trying to be positive about the fact that it’s Monday, so here are numerous other things I’m loving today: – Spending an entire [...]

  • Mornings with Deepak.

Thank you SO much for reading my Out of the Closet posts. Even if you didn’t comment, I’m glad you shared in the experience. It was pretty cathartic to write. I actually cried after writing the third one. They were happy tears though, don’t worry! I also put out into the universe that I’d like [...]
