The South Beach Diet incorporates three phases:
Phase 1 is the strictest part of the diet and lasts 2 weeks. In Phase 1 carbs are banned but you’re allowed high protein meats, low G.I veges, fat dairy products and nuts. Phase 2 is a bit less strict, introducing a few of the banned foods. Phase 3 is the maintenance phase intended to be used long term.

The Atkins diet plan is one of the more controversial diets produced by the weight loss industry. The Atkins diet plan incorporates high protein foods, dairy products, good fats but low in carbs.

The Zone Diet
The Zone (apart from the cool name) is a popular weight loss diet that advocates that ‘diet’ need not be a dirty, scary word but in fact a way of life. Similar to the Atkins in the sense that they focus on low-fat protein, low G.I carbs and good fats. They also encourage half an hour of exercise a day - smart!

The Master Cleanse Diet
The Master Cleanse Diet should only be used as a detox or kick start diet and by no means is a healthy eating plan. However it has become popular as a detox and a quick way to lose a few pounds before an upcoming event etc.

Jenny Craig Diet
Jenny Craig is a household name when it comes to weight loss diets. The Jenny Craig diet incorporates a range of Jenny Craig cuisine from meals to snacks and even desserts. The meal plans are designed especially for you and can be very successful when it comes to weight loss especially since a Jenny Craig staff member has regular meetings with you to keep you on track.
The Weight Watchers diet was voted Best Diet in 2007 by the Diet Channel. Using a points system (whereby x amount of points are allocated to each food type). A plan is designed for you allocating a recommended number of points daily so you can keep on top of your eating and lose weight fast. There are also group meetings each week to track your progress, share your experiences with people going through the same stuff as you and ask for advice.
