Try to stay away from processed and deep fried foods. Eat more whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, olive oil instead of regular fats, yogurt and other dairy products, nuts and seeds, lean meat (poultry) and fish (if you like sea food) and above all fresh fruits and vegetables. Reduce your intake of red meat to few times a month. Portion sizes are REALLY important! You need to eat regularly (4-5 times a day), but smaller portions.
Also, if you drink sodas, try to cut down and drink water or natural juices instead.
It doesn't need to be exhausting exercises, even a regular half-a-hour walk few times a week will help you feel better. And when we feel better about ourselfs, it's much easier to lose weight.
